Sabudana khichdi is so simple and delicious. It is easy to cook, ingredients are readily available, and you receive so many nutrients and health benefits from this breakfast dish, popular in Western India.
I am from Punjab and never had a taste for Sabudana Khichdi. I had tried the dish before but never liked its taste until one fine day when I tried the Sabudana Khichdi from the lunch box of one of my colleagues. It tasted so delicious, and I was wondering why did I never like it before. (not everyone is a great cook, clearly).
I went online and read many recipes of the Sabudana Khichdi, and finally tried the following recipe. I believe that it turned out well, as my husband was also not a great fan of Sabudana, but now he wants to eat it every alternate day. Without taking much time, please find below the recipe:
💞Wash sabudana pearls properly and soak them overnight
💞In a pan, heat a tbsp ghee, stir fry boiled potato chunks for 5-10 minutes until they start to look a light brown in colour.
💞now in the same ghee, add some jeera, two slit green chillies and 3-4 curry leaves and cook for 2-3 minutes
💞Keep the flame low to light medium and add sabudna pearls to the mixture. Immediately add coarsely grounded peanut powder .. stir it for 3-4 minutes .
💞Now add peanuts which you can pound in a mortar jar before adding to the kadai
💞Add salt and black pepper .
💞Now cook sabudana pearls until they start to look transparent in colour .
💞in the end, add lime juice and serve hot .
