Dubai is a foodie’s heaven, name the craving and you have it. I personally have not come across anyone who says “Wish we had that food in Dubai”, Dubai has it all.
Having been lived in Dubai for over two and half years, and been to over hundreds of restaurants for reviews, I have shortlisted my five favourite food items which you can snack on when in Dubai.. On our list we have mouth-watering vada paos with a twist, a falafel that has its own varied flavour, sweet churros we call Jalebi back home, pani puri in a new avatar and last but not least, a calorie and taste heavyweight cheese and garlic parantha. Let’s get forks ready!
O’ Pao In Karama
This newly opened small eatery in Karama is giving a seriously delicious makeover to the Mumbai’s favourite street food-vada pao (an Indian slider). Trust us you will be spoilt with choice of paos on the menu. There are 16 different types of pao flavours.
From classic vada pao, to Punjabi butter chicken, Chinese noodles , manchurian, tandoori paneer to, schezwan maggi , kheema, mutton, khicha and seekh kebab paos, the menu is bursting with flavours.
Without any second thoughts, it will have you drooling over the unique twist given to this very basic but popular street food from the streets of India. Even the pao, in which all different flavours are stuffed, the hero of the whole concept, becomes an attraction with Insta worty ‘O’Pao’ stamp on top.
All in all, when in Dubai and specially in Karama, you cannot skip a visit here. Average cost is Dhs 15.

Falafel At Farisian Cafeteria In Meena Bazaar
This hole in the wall cafeteria in Meena Bazaar, Old Dubai serves the best falafel for only Dhs3. With only three items on the menu, you will always find a queue here. Even though the falafel is not like any other regular falafel made of chickpeas. As we guess what ingredients make it taste so good, we are already two falafels down. (Still guessing, we move on).

Chocolate Pani Puris At Kulfi House
A sweet treat like none other… This restaurant in the busy lane of karama has expertise in offering different flavours of kulfis but the real gem that we go back for over and again is their chocolate panipuri. The pani puri dipped in chocolate syrup is frozen and is served with delicious rabri and generous sprinkles of pistachio shavings. Ahhh.. order repeat!
